Kaki King

^^

When: Friday 10th August
Where: Factory Theatre

Provocative and moving, surprising and beautiful, "The Neck Is A Bridge To The Body" is Kaki King at her visionary best: deconstructing and redefining the role of solo instrumental artist through virtuoso technique, insatiable imagination, and boundless humanity. This groundbreaking new multi-media performance uses projection mapping to present the guitar as an ontological tabula rasa in a creation myth unlike any other, where luminous visions of genesis and death, textures and skins, are cast onto an Ovation Adamas 1581-KK Kaki King Signature 6-String Acoustic guitar customized specifically for this production. "More than anything the process of creating this music has proven to me once again that the guitar really does the speaking, and I'm just the interpreter." - Kaki King "The Neck Is A Bridge To The Body" was produced in collaboration with Glowing Pictures (best known for their work with such artists as Animal Collective, David Byrne & Brian Eno, Beastie Boys, and TV On The Radio).

Jack River

^^

When: Friday 28th September
Where: Metro Theatre

I OH YOU is thrilled to reveal a fresh new offering from Jack River’s debut album with the stunning multi-dimensional ‘Limo Song’. Premiering overnight on triple j along with the effervescent accompanying video dropping simultaneously, ‘Limo Song’ will feature on Jack River’s debut album Sugar Mountain out on Friday 22 June via I OH YOU. In further exciting news, Jack River today reveals she’ll be taking her band on the road for her biggest national headline tour in support of the album. Hitting Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane, the Sugar Mountain Tour will bring the album to life showcasing Jack River’s incredible knack for live performance in her biggest rooms to date. Jack River will follow up with sets at this year’s Splendour in the Grass, Yours & Owls Festival and will open the first show on Vance Joy’s tour in September. News of the Sugar Mountain Tour and festival dates comes fresh from Jack River’s recent debut shows across the UK at The Great Escape and Dot To Dot Festivals. Situated in a dreamscape laced with lingering darkness after unforeseen tragedy, ‘Limo Song’ amplifies the underlying heartache ever-present throughout each of Sugar Mountain’s tracks. While previous single ‘Ballroom’ pulses with defiant energy, ‘Limo Song’ is a tentatively outstretched hand, full of poignant yet unanswered questions. For Jack River, the track plugs into, “that melancholic dream world where you’re looking back and looking forwards all at once”. Delicate guitar lines are set beautifully against full-bodied bass, creating imagery of a rolling limousine guided by the wispy side of Jack River’s vocals which swirl to the fore.
